SECURITY OFFICER QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Greets arriving tenants, visitors, and guests within an assigned site. Serves, in many cases, as the first visible point of contact for arriving visitors and after-hour occupants.
- Provides courteous assistance, directions and escorts in response to requests.
- Accurately documents situations and incidents in report format, using clear, concise language in legible handwriting.
- Monitors and reports activity observed in person and via closed circuit television.
- Uses good communication skills to gather and pass on information to and from clients, co-workers and customers.
- Monitors and responds effectively on behalf of the client and building tenants during emergency or stressful situations, particularly fire alarms, bomb threats and life-threatening incidents. Assumes a leadership role, in many cases, as the first responder for a building or site emergency.
- Conducts interior and exterior walking patrols under varying weather and environmental conditions, including rain, wind, darkness and downtown alleys, ascending and descending fire stairwells and negotiating uneven terrain, to observe and report safety and security concerns. Locates, challenges, and escorts suspicious and unauthorized persons off the site.
- Works independently, without direct supervision or assistance.
- Takes polite, effective reponsibility for the safety and security of an assigned post or site, meeting client expectations for exceptional customer service at all times.
